Tour & Treehouse Update

Volume 6, Issue 4 - April 24, 2002

Hey Folks,

This will be my last chance to write before hopping on a plane in two days and wending my way across the Atlantic to begin my UK/Ireland tour.

I still haven't packed yet, so let me get to the pertinent details:
...................................................................................................................................................................................
*  London Warm-up Gig:

I'll be doing a small warm-up gig in London, this coming Wednesday, May 1st at 9pm, to kick off the tour (you can help me remember all my lyrics). It's a small intimate venue in London called the Minx Club, - it only seats 50.  This warm-up gig is not being listed in any national ads or promotion and I'm only mentioning it in this one email. Tickets are £10.   Anyone that would like to make it should email the club in advance to reserve tables at:  bookings@theminxclub.fsnet.co.uk
The Minx Club  (beneath Barracuda)
125, Stoke Newington Church Street,
London N16

* Silly Song, Sing-Along !!!:

This'll be fun. After repeated requests, I'll be performing two 'Silly Song, Sing-Along' Kids concerts in the UK during this tour.  They will be at venues where I'll also be performing my regular grownup show. Here are the details:

Dean's Silly Song, Sing-Along
The Lowry - Manchester (Salford Quays)
 Saturday, May 25th  11am
Call 0161-876-2000 for tickets
(note: my grownup gig at the Lowry is the night before, on the 24th)

Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre - Guildford
Saturday, June 15  3:00pm
Call 01483-44-33-22 for tickets
(note: my grownup gig is that evening at the same venue.)

So, if you have kids (or are just a big kid yourself) join me for a silly afternoon at one of these gigs.

* Dean's Treehouse Contest:

Fancy a couple of nights in New York City? One of my tour sponsors, the online music download company, UKSounds.com is sponsoring a Treehouse Competition and they will be flying the winner and a guest to New York City for the weekend, including accommodation at a top hotel and culminating in a trip upstate to Peekskill and lunch in the Treehouse!
To enter all you have to do is find the correct answers to the Quiz, which is being hosted on the UKSounds.com site. The winner will be selected at random from among the correct entries. So, if you'd like to visit the Big Apple and aren't afraid of heights check out this link:       Dean's Treehouse Contest or type http://www.uksounds.com/dean.htm into your browser. I still haven't decided what to serve for lunch. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches might be tasty!

* 2nd Wales Gig Added to Tour:

One date has been added to the tour - a return engagement to the Beaufort Theatre in Ebbw Vale on Tuesday May 21. It won't be listed on Ticketweb, so to order tickets call the box office at 01495-308996. You can still purchase tickets to all the other shows online via my website at http://deanfriedman.com  or by calling Ticketweb at 08700 600 100.

 ...................................................................................................................................................................................:

* Venue Correction:

There was a mistake on the A5 flyers which were printed and sent out; the Cambridge gig on Friday, June 14 is actually at the Mumford Theatre (not the Arts Theatre). Order tickets at http://deanfriedman.com  or by calling Ticketweb at 08700 600 100.

*  NextCD  'The Treehouse Journals' Almost Done.

Some of you have probably already surmised, from previous comments, that I was actually making a ridiculously foolhardy effort to finish the new CD in time for the upcoming tour. What was I thinking? Well, I have two more days of mixing then I master. Theoretically, I step on a plane the next day.  George Washington Slept Here is one of the tracks. I think you'll like it.
As the release is now about a month away, I'll probably be discontinuing the Limited Edition CD offer very soon. If  you'd still like a signed 'Limited Edition' copy of the new CD, now would  be a good time to order it.

 ...................................................................................................................................................................................:

I think that about covers it, for now. I've still got more mixes to do, so I'm gonna say goodbye for now. I hope to see lots of you UK contingent at the gigs. I'll try to cover some of the US next year.

Meanwhile,

Take care, be well and enjoy the music.

Yours,
Dean
