The Story of The Music Atrium

The Music Atrium Instruments were first discovered by the famous musicologist Professor Theloneus Tootenheimer, while on a music research expedition in the far away Coda Galaxy.

There, in an uncharted corner of the universe, he came upon a small group of planets inhabited by a strange race of musical beings called the Trill. The Trill, who have two pairs of ears, devote their entire lives to crafting musical instruments and making beautiful music on them.

The instruments on display - the Booble, the Honkblatt, the Tone Stones and the Jingle-Lingle-Lily - were found on these planets and carefully shipped back to earth for the enjoyment of earthlings, especially earth kids.

The Trill believe that music is essential food for the heart, mind and soul and that children who grow up with music in their lives turn into happy, healthy adults who are in harmony with the world around them. The Trill may be right about this because they have had no wars on their planets for more than 10,000 years.

Professor Tootenheimer asks that you treat these instruments with respect, play them gently and not bang on them too hard. He hopes you will enjoy these wonderful instruments and grow up, just like the musical Trill, in peace and harmony.

[Booble]The Booble

The Booble comes from the planet Allegro and can be played by four or five children at a time. The Booble is also used by Trill parents at bedtime to put cranky Trill children to sleep. It is played by squeezing one of its rubber bulbs with your hand. Try and find all the different types of sounds the Booble makes. It is played by squeezing one of its rubber bulbs with your hand. [Honkblatt]The Honkblatt

The Honkblatt comes from the planet Phlbtt and is used to make music from the mountain tops. Because of the unusual atmosphere on the planet, a Honkblatt horn can be heard a hundred miles away. Trill children and adults can be found bouncing up and down on the Honkblatt stools from morning until night. Professor Tootenheimer asks that you be extra careful and not stand on the Honkblatt stools. Trill children under 30 lbs. often sit on their parents laps. [Tone Stones]Tone Stones

The Tone Stones come from the planet Glissando where they can be found on almost every walkway and path. The Trill like to hear music wherever they go and so Tone Stones are played constantly whenever they walk from one place to another. Because Tone Stones also light up when you step on them, they help the Trill to see during a nighttime stroll. See if you can make music by stepping from one stone to another.

[Lily]Jingle-Lingle-Lily

The Jingle-Lingle-Lilies are actually musical plants, which grow on the twin planets Xylem and Phloem. They are harvested and then specially prepared by Trill craftsmen and craftswomen. Used during meditation and relaxation exercises, they have been known to cure a bad case of the sniffles. They are played by gently grabbing the pistil inside the flower and pulling it slightly towards you. This will create a delightful Jingle-Lingle-Lily sound from which the flower gets its name. Professor Tootenheimer asks that you please do not hang from the flower stems.
